It explains much on how small we are comparing to the Universe. Like Ellie's dad said..."if the universe is just us alone would be a waste of space and lonely."
There are many parts in the movie that put me in deep thoughts and at each different period watchibg it, I understand better and some conversations are mind provoking.
Is there a crossing between God and science? In my humble opinion without any science and religion to back me on this thought, I think the universe is the bridge. The universe is wide open it's door for scientists to chase for the unknowns yet leaving so much of mysteries that only God knows. Those founds is telling how capable human beings can be when pursuing truth but also the big part of the universe still remaining mysterious are sending the message of how tiny we are and how much more to explore.
This part of Elli's speech (text shows below at Conversations in movie)put me in tears each time watching it. Feeling much of her believes and so much wanna share of what she experienced but without evidence. Aren't this similar to our daily life? The majority measure and make believe by what be seen. I am like Ellie, I can't prove yet, but even with doubts from others, I hold on and believing my own journey that I've experienced and continue pursuing, of course a bonus if having someone like Matthew McConaughey to believe in and walk with me :)
